The research activities of the Institute are closely linked to the state management for environment and natural resources protection and have considerably contributed to the sustainable development of the Southern Vietnam region, especially the Saigon-Dongnai river basin, southern key economic zone, Mekong delta and Ho Chi Minh City. The main research fields include:
Advanced technologies for treatment of waste water, exhaust air, hazardous and solid wastes
Environmental toxicology
Application of informatics on environment and natural resources management
According to registered certification No-520, on March 19th, 1997, the scientific and technological activities of IER are:
Scientific research for environmental technology and resources that are applied in the fields of reasonable exploiting and using natural resources, industry, residential areas, agricultural, forestry and fishery activities;
Production and experimentation of environmental technology (grey and green), bio preparation and chemical manufactured production in the field of environmental protection;
Scientific services: training, consultant, applying technologies to protect the environment
Until 2017, there were about 342 projects/ Research topics at all levels and had 544 articles published in the scientific journal, International or National Scientific Conference, contributing positively to environmental protection.
Furthermore, research projects supported by VNU-HCM aim to promote and encourage young scientists willing to improve their research skills while working on environmental sustainable development of VietNam.
